Beauty Contests…What’s your view ?

To enter a Beauty Pageant you have to meet certain standards …Beauty contests promote an ideal type of female beauty, to which only a minority of women can realistically aspire too, but which adds to the pressure on all women to conform to it, by encouraging dieting and a certain look, which may likely lead them to having plastic surgery…. They teach young girls that they have to look perfect. This can lead to social, physical, mental, and health problems. This can be discouraging to women to be themselves, and encouraging them to keep their weight down, which leads to not eating properly, wear more makeup, and change themselves to have a ‘perfect’ look…… Which we know should not be the case, and that is why beauty contest maybe harmful.

Even social media can cause the same problem, young teenagers competing with others, that may have had plastic surgery, which they cannot afford. It should not be about competition, but about being happy within ourselves.

If they don’t win the contest, they may think they are ugly or they think differently on how they look. They maybe just entering the contest from pressure from the family, only to be let down by not winning.

The true beauty lies in the heart, I agree that being awarded the Miss World, is not only based on physical appearance but also about social life etc… But how do you get a ticket to become a participant, It is only by fulfilling the requirement about the height, weight, etc…

IS IT HARMFUL FOR CHILDREN IN CONTESTS ?

Survey’s have shown that toddler pageants could be harmful, because if those children never win, it is just telling them before they are even a teenager, that they aren’t good enough.

If an adult woman enters herself in a beauty contest because she feels that she’s pretty enough, she can handle the rejection, if she loses. Children are not as emotionally equipped to deal with it.
